Quick & Hearty Meals With CP Food Cooking Kit

Hello folks, it had being almost two months since our last post till now and we hope you peeps are doing fine. Although I might not have time to update a proper post over here but time to time I still share our daily meals and bakes over at other social media such as SnapChat, Instagram or Dayre. Above was a quick quick dinner which I whipped up last weekend using two of the CP Food cooking kits which we received as media samples.

We had Stir-fried Chicken with Holy Basil ($4.60) serve with steamed rice and sunny-side-up egg for two and Yakiudon prepared using Sliced Pork with Ginger Sauce ($5.90) together with sliced cabbage & onion. Recipes and snaps of preparation are available in this post too.

Steamed Carrot Cake With Seafood XO Sauce - 海皇XO酱蒸萝卜糕

Carrot Cake (萝卜糕) aka radish cake or chai tow kway is a popular dish eaten during Chinese New Year to symbolize "good fortune (好彩头)". Although there are a few different methods in making this traditional dish but generally shredded white radish is being mixed with the rice flour batter together with ingredients like dried shrimps, mushroom and Chinese sausage.

Despite being a new year dish, carrot cake is also one of the common dim sum items which often served in steamed or pan-fried version. Besides those you can also find another local version known as Fried Carrot Cake (菜头粿) which is stir-fried with eggs and preserved radish.

Wong Kee Noodle Chinese New Year Special

Chinese New Year is approaching and I am sure everyone is getting ready for some steamboat (hot pot) sessions with family and friends soon. With that there are many ingredients which you can add in such as seafood, vegetables, meat and many more. Having steamboat is a great bonding time where everyone gets to sit around the table; chatting and enjoy the food while at the same time get your hands on cooking your favourite ingredients.

[Day 3] Bangkok Chinatown & SabX2 Wanton Noodles

It had being more than ten years since our last visit to Bangkok Chinatown. But at a glance the surroundings are still looking familiar perhaps just with a few added modern walking streets and busy traffic of motorbikes and tuk-tuks. During our visit we explore some of the streets along Yaowarat Road; get some traditional Chinese sausages, Chinese herbs and also drop by the wholesale & wet markets selling seasonal fruits, dried goods, fresh seafood, cooked food, handicraft, clothing and many more.

[New Outlets] Sembawang White Beehoon (三巴旺白米粉)

Sembawang White Beehoon (三巴旺白米粉) is one of the few popular cze char stalls in Sembawang and Yishun area which is located at 22 Jalan Tampang (You Huak Restaurant). As far I could remember this stall had being at the same location for more than 10 years serving loyalty patrons who loved their signature white beehoon. The dinner queues usually starts to crazy during evening time from around 5pm onward and most of the time you need to wait for at least 20 minutes or more before you can grab your seats. Now with another 2 new outlets (sun plaza shopping centre & punggol settlement) serving similar dishes I am sure it will helps to spread up the queues.

Christmas Wonderland 2015 @ Gardens By The Bay

This Christmas Singapore is holding her second Christmas Wonderland which is an annual yuletide fair with light sculptures and festive market at Gardens By the Bay from 28 November 2015 to 03 January 2016. Visitors will be able to experience "winter" at the new Ice Palace with indoor ice skating rink or making snow angels at the snow playground. Besides chilling up there are also carnival games and rides plus European-style festive market and Spiegeltent festive menu to perk up the festival mood too.
